Miami-Dade, FL. This evening, Ruth’s List Florida congratulated Katia Saint Fleur for her victory in the Miami Shores Village Council race. Katia is the first Haitian American elected to the Miami Shores Village Council. She brings over 15 years of government and community experience to the role. Her grassroots campaign focused on empowering women and people of color to become more involved in local government.

“Though many would consider 2021 an off year, we at Ruth’s List Florida know there is no time for rest when it comes to building the bench of women leaders. We are thrilled to see another candidate win an early race in the 2021-2022 cycle,” said Lucy Sedgwick CEO of Ruth’s List Florida. “We’re seeing more and more women running for office — and winning. Katia won her election because she connected with voters on the issues that matter most when it comes to improving the quality of life in her community.”

Ruth’s List is a statewide organization founded with the mission of identifying, training, and electing pro-choice women to state and local government, and building a pipeline of women leaders who bring diverse perspectives and a powerful vision to local government.
