We are Ruthless…
This week we both honor and mourn the lives of two incomparable Ruths who were instrumental to the pursuit of equality in our country: Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Ambassador Ruth Bryan Owen.
A U.S. legal giant, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg dedicated her life to advancing the rights of all Americans, and especially women, before the law. Our namesake Ambassador Ruth Bryan Owen — whose birthday we celebrate today — was both the first woman to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives from the state of Florida and the first woman U.S. Ambassador.
As we stand on the shoulders of these trailblazing women, it is now our duty to pick up the torch and forge the path forward for the next generation. At stake in this election are:
- Reproductive justice, our right to choose what is best for our own bodies and families;
- Access to healthcare, which does not treat womanhood as a pre-existing condition;
- Civil and LGBTQ+ rights in the workplace, in the justice system, and in education.
